Greenbrier is a small suburb of the Little Rock metropolitan area of Arkansas located in Faulkner County. Approximately 5,000 people call Greenbrier home. The city is comprised of 7.9 square miles of land. Greenbrier lies in the humid subtropical climate zone, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild winters, with usually little snow.
A Brief History of Greenbrier
Before the area was settled by European and American pioneers, members of the Quapaw and later the Cherokee native American tribes populated the area now known as Greenbrier. It is documented that two infamous Wild West characters, Jim Bowie and Jesse James, passed through Greenbrier at various times either going to or from adventures in the states of Texas and Oklahoma. The town developed from a minor brothel on the Butterfield Stagecoach route into a Little Rock sometime in the early 1800s.
